Is Your Cat Getting More and More Chubby?

This is Raja, our overweight cat!

Raja started out a reasonably svelte 12 lbs when we got her from a local shelter at age 7. Then, barely 2 years later, she was up to a hefty 15 lbs!

Diet cat foods were no help. Then, I happened to read a book: "Your Cat, Simple New Secrets To A Longer, Stronger Life" and it changed everything.

We invite you to follow our quest for a healthy weight-loss plan for this funny, personable and very talkative cat.

Hopefully, together we can help all our cats live healthier and thinner lives!

HELP! Our Cat Is Peeing Outside Her Litter Box!

Raja's at it again! Her box is nice and clean with the new litter we're using but every now and then she pees outside her box. Can anyone give us an idea of what to do to make her pee inside her box all the time?

It's really weird, because she will also pee in her box, so there doesn't seem to be any reason for her to go outside it.

Another weird thing.. she doesn't just pee outside the box, she pees many feet away from it. Her box is in the basement on a cement floor that was carpeted with indoor/outdoor carpeting. When she went outside the box, she peed a couple of feet away from it.

Because it stunk, we removed the carpeting from her box area so that her box now sits directly on the cement floor. Now, when she has her "accidents", she pees on the remaining carpeting on the landing at the bottom of the basement stairs, about 4 feet from her box.

She doesn't do this every day either, just sometimes. Of course, once she christens the carpet, it seems she can't resist going in the same spot eventually.

Please, does anyone reading this know how to stop her from peeing outside her box?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  1. I would recommend you to take your cat to the vet and get the blood test. Make sure that she/he isn't diabetic. It could be one of the symptoms. I recently learned that my cat is diabetic after noticing her peeing outside the litterbox. After changing her diet, she has stopped peeing outside the litterbox. Hopefully your cat isn't. Good luck.

  2. Thanks, I hope not. Her last blood tests were in April and she was OK.

She is't showing any other symptoms like excessive thirst either. Fingers crossed, that's not her problem.

Thanks again for the input. If this persists, then we will have to take her back to the vet.

What were your cat's other symptoms?

  3. My cat Gizmo tends to sometimes poop outside the litter box. He has pooped and even peeing in the oddest places: in our fireplace (we aren't using it because it will soon be knocked down and rebuilt) We also a have a huge pot on a stand that he has used. I am a 2 cat owner and now have 2 litterboxes. I don't seem to be having problems now. I might try Arm & Hammer litter. I am always looking for other ideas or suggestions to solve this problem . I am a first time reader. Great blog!!!
